A private jet flown by Roush Fenway Racing co-owner Jack Roush crashed while landing at an airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin Tuesday evening. Along with Roush, his friend Brenda Strickland was also on the plane when it crashed.

According to multiple reports, Roush was trying to land his twin-engine Beechcraft Premier 1A at Wittman Regional Airport about 7:15 p.m. ET Tuesday. He was scheduled to take part in the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual AirVenture this week.

A pilot who says he witnessed the crash says the jet was about to land, then began a go-around maneuver. At that point, one of the wings dropped, the plane fell to the runway and broke in half.

Thankfully, Roush is listed in serious but stable condition, while Strickland suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Roush is an experienced pilot but this isn’t his first crash.

Roush, an experienced pilot, suffered serious injuries in a plane crash near Talladega, Ala., in 2002. He was flying his P-51 aircraft when it crashed into a lake. Roush was unconscious and would have drowned, but he was pulled from the water by Larry Hicks, a retired marine who lived nearby and saw the crash.

NASCAR team owner Jack Roush crashed his plane while landing in Wisconsin Tuesday night, leaving him in serious but stable condition.

Roush, who was set to attend the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., suffered injuries including facial lacerations but was able to walk out of the plane himself, according to the Washington Post.

An avid aviator, Roush owns several planes, including a World War II-era P-51 Mustang. He crashed a plane into a pond in 2002 and nearly drowned before he was rescued, but continued to fly afterward.
